FFXIV Tank Classes

Dark Knight: Removed from the shackles of law and oaths, dark knights utilize dark magic to infuse their greatsword sword with power. They are a more magic-based tank with a balance between damage mitigation and heavy offensive attacks. They take it upon themselves to administer justice as they see fit as opposed to what the law says. This is Aragibal's newest practice, and what he's settled on as his go to.

Paladin: Originally sworn to the Ul'dahn Sultanate, paladins are the sword and shield-wielding bodyguards of Eorzea. They combine sword and shield-based combat with some level of light magic to provide protection for their allies. While Aragibal is an excellent paladin, it is his least favorite of the tanking jobs available.

Warrior: These two-handed waraxe wielding tanks must maintain balance within themselves to keep their rage in check. Warriors can take the most hits of the three tanks and provide high damage output, allowing their rage to fuel their attacks and provide great strength. Warrior was the first of the classes of war that Aragibal learned as living on the Azim Steppe proved wonderful training grounds for their savage art.

FFXIV DPS Classes

Monk: Aragibal's favorite damage class: monk. This art traces back to Ala Mhigo and focuses on opening the chakras within the body. They fight with their fists and feet coupled with aether to charge their attacks. Aragibal has spent the most time training under this class and is by far the most proficient with it - his achievements in this realm are truly on the level of even the greatest masters. To challenge Aragibal in hand to hand combat is to ensure your own defeat.

Dragoon: These elite knights of Ishgard wield a lance and have trained specifically to fight dragons that may have attacked before peace was forged by the warrior of light. Their fighting style most notably has jumps, in which they launch themselves into the air and come down onto their enemy (justice rains from above!). There are the top of their force, the Azure Dragoon, which draws power from the eye of Nidhogg - but Aragibal is no such dragoon. He was trained under another regular knight dragoon and is nothing out of the ordinary for their order.

Ninja: A covert agent hailing from Doma, the shinobi are often retainers for Doman lords and work in numerous different roles pending what they are needed to do. Shinobi have special abilities called ninjutsu, which are manifestations of aether that are called forth via handsigns called mudra. These dual-knife wielding infiltrators are experts in combat and stealth. Aragibal struggles with this class as he is more at home within the realm of monk combat, but he is proficient enough to be called a shinobi in Doma, though he will be the first to admit he is not a good one.

Bard: Talented archers with a fire in them to alight song with the power to uplift their allies or distress their foes, these worthy allies are powerful in battle for their sheer ability to provide aide to their allies during battle. Aragibal is a natural fit for this class as he loves music and enjoys the bow, though he will not oft be found fighting as this class as he prefers up close fighting styles to those of ranged classes.

Machinist: A very new job, machinists are sharp shooters wielding magitek constructs to fight. Utilizing guns and constructs they can provide similar utility as bards without the necessary passion (or voice) of song. Ara learned the way of the machinist as the guild was being formed and found it a natural evolution of bard, but would sooner pick up the bow and arrow before the gun.

Samurai: A style of blade forged by the ways of war, samurai were originally soldiers for the feudal lords of Hingashi. They are now the guard used to keep the peace about the nation. This honorable style seemed to be a natural fit for Aragibal, after learning the ways of the shinobi. While he does not mind the way of the samurai, he finds fighting honorably to be a bit, well, dull. He mostly likes to use it to show off to the western Eorzeans, who may not be as familiar with the fighting style.
